The "spirit of Antichrist" in the 21st century: Part 5: Revised: The absurdity of "interfaith dialogue"

As we grow closer to that Day, we can expect to dwell in the midst of a rapidly growing apostasy. Denominations that have long been the bulwark of Christian fundamentalism will gradually fall prey to "trends." The PCUSA and the Episcopal Church in America, the Lutherans and the United Methodists, along with strong elements in the Southern Baptist Convention are embracing man-centered doctrines that sometimes subtly and sometimes boldly deny the authority of the Bible, the resurrection, justification by faith in Christ alone, and the exclusivity of the way to the Father. "They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them" (I Jn. 4:3).

Fox news reports today that the Roman Catholic Church this week, 6/10/08, held a meeting of the Pontifical Council for Inter-Religious Dialogue to discuss "new guidelines for inter-faith dialogue." Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, the head of this Council declared that "the Church 'has to have regard for all religions,'" not just Islam. He believes that inter-faith dialogue has been "held hostage by Islam." And "asked if there was a sense that Islam must not 'monopolize' inter-faith dialogue Cardinal Tauran replied: 'Yes, people are obesessed by Islam. For example I'm going to India next month and I want to give this message that all religions are equal." (see my recent article on "Interfaith" dialogue and why it can be and must be applied to our taking part in programs with the heretics of the Word Faith movement which is a religion all to itself).

This is a damnable doctrine. If indeed all religions are equal, then we as Christians are most foolish. We have believed a lie. Islam not only teaches that Jesus was not the Son of God and did not die and then rise from the dead, but is determined to end such "humanly constructed" heresies. So you blasphemous liar, Cardinal Tauran, Mohammed is equal to Jesus? Then by all means, Cardinal Tauran, follow Mohammed. This is the spirit of Antichrist in the 21st century!

That we are living in the last days is evident; the Word of God assures us that we are: "Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us" (2:18-19). These are the apostates. And they continue to "go out" in our day.

The test of the spirits is "has Jesus Christ come in the flesh?" In other words, is Jesus Christ the Son of God, God incarnate? Is He the Christ, the Messiah? Is He "Immanuel...God with us?" "Who being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God (as the Pharisees thought), but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men" (Phil. 2:6-7). "Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood He Himself likewise shared in the same" (Heb. 2:14). To not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is to deny the above; and that is the spirit of Antichrist.

Many students of eschatology (the study of last things) become engrossed in "the Antichrist" and his dramatic end-times activities. They often fail to take in to account that before he comes there will be many "antichrists" inhabiting this planet. The minions of the Antichrist will be working in cooperation with Satan in ushering in the "great falling away," the apostasy. And this very religious movement will appear to the lost to be a genuine move of God. Thus they will be able to worship god, "the man of perdition," without leaving their pews (II Thess. 2:1-12). Remember that Jesus told us before it comes to pass that many in that day will profess to have known Him and worked wonders in His name. What else is this but a religious movement.
